How do You get DOTA 2?
DotA 2 is by Valve co, not Blizzard, and is a stand-alone game, meaning
it doesn't run using the warcraft III system. So you don't need any
products from World of warcraft or warcraft III to play DotA 2.
DotA 2 is currently in closed beta on STEAM and can only be played if you received a beta invite key.
There are 2 ways to get the key:
1) Fill up the survey on the DotA 2 website and hope you win the lottery and get the survey.
2) Find a friend who has beta keys and get him/her to give one to you.
It has already been mentioned on 1 June 2012 that DotA 2 will be free to play, so no worries about purchasing the game. There are in-game purchases for nerds(lol) who wish to customize the looks of their individual heroes, which is how the developers are going to earn their money.
The actual open beta release is currently TBA.
